Javillier Meursault Murgers 2008, Chardonnay Wine

Javillier Meursault Murgers 2008, Chardonnay Wine

Origin: France - Burgundy
Characteristics: The southern portion of Burgundy, the Cotes du Beaune is home to the other great Chardonnay wines in the world; Chablis is the other. The wine is generally aged in oak barrels and the fruit is usually riper giving fuller, rounder wines. Sites within the commune vary dramatically in quality and prices. The wines at Premier Cru level and above should be nutty, buttery and toasty, but with racy acidity and often hints of unusual mineral and stony flavours. These are white wines that can reward cellaring for between 5 and 15 years.
Expert Review
92(+?) points - Bright yellow. Reticent but complex nose hints at stone, menthol, lavender and brown spices. At once lush and energetic, with orchard fruit flavors complicated by subtle herbs and spices and lifted by bright acidity and firm minerality. Rich but very pure, and not a bit exotic. Finishes long and aromatic. Superb.

Angeline Chardonnay 2012
Characteristics: Coastal Californian Chardonnay retains the brighter charms of Chardonnay with fresh and firm guava and papaya notes on the nose that round out with a ripe fruit on the palate. Although dry it almost comes across as sweetly fragrant on the mid-palate in a way that makes this a natural with savory cuisine from India to Thailand as it can handle density and heat.

My Rating:
Argyle Nuthouse Chardonnay 2009
Characteristics: Mouthwatering is the first descriptor that comes to mind. A nose of sweet white peach, orange blossom and cool nectarine with an overlay of toasted hazelnuts, clove and allspice that is so fresh, pure and clean that it just fires up those salivary glands. It opens with a full mouth feel with notes of baked peach and toasted hazelnuts and delicious notes of honey and hints of graham cracker. The palate finishes with clean oak spice notes and a stony minerality that quenches and excites.

My Rating:
Barraud Pouilly Fuisse La Roche 2007
Characteristics: Here the thin soils show themselves which in the 2007s is a terrific complexity. The nose is stoney, chalky. Quince, preserved lemons in the flavours with a shimmery steeliness in the finish.
