Ascheri Dolcetto Vigna Nirane 2010, Dolcetto Wine
Origin: Italy - Piemonte
Artisan Vineyard Notes
Characteristics: This is the first 2010 Dolcetto I've tasted so I don't know if the atypical character of the wine is an expression of the vintage or an anomaly from Mateo Ascheri. The Ascheri wines are always fundamental Piedmontese wines, rich and intense. This Dolcetto is an amalgam of modernity and tradition. The forward flavours have a modern silken fruit but the finish is rustic tart; very attractive. The atypical character is in the nose which is soft and seductive; strangely like Gamay or Zweigelt. Note by LAC. 11/07/2011
Food Pairings: Well paired with on-the-spit, grilled red meats. Excellent with lean Italian hors d’oeuvres – For the whole meal.

Alexis Bailly Vineyards Frontenac 2011
Characteristics: What a wonderful and intriguing nose. It has some of the uplifted spices in mulling spices especially cinnamon and spearmint layered atop the Frontenac red fruit. WOW totally yummy and I’m sure it’s the first Frontenac I’ve ever described as such. A flood of red fruit flavor but in pirouette of balance and finesse rarely found in this varietal. A big bravo to Nan Bailly. Wine review by LAC, December 2012

Altano Douro Red Portuguese Table Wine 2010

Characteristics: Perhaps it should not come as a surprise seeing as this dry red comes to us from the Symington family –whose name is synonymous with Ports but it comes as a happy surprise that this wine resembles every bright charm of Port without any of the sweet dried fruit reserved to that fortified category. This is heady and fragrant sure but with freshly crushed boysenberries and sliced plums. With a palate the texture of velvet and seasoned with baking spices, this is just short of brooding. Instead we find a gentle giant whose charms are the contrast betwixt strength and restraint, and ones angst over what they might expect from this brawny sort vanishes before the beaming smile they encounter instead. This sustainable red is made from the Portuguese varieties Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca. Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, April 2013

Riedel Sommeliers Chianti/Zinfandel
Description: In 1973, in Orvieto, Claus Riedel presented the world's first gourmet glass series developed with the help of the Associazione Italiana Sommeliers (A.I.S.). The Sommeliers series was developed further by his son Georg, into an all-embracing state-of-the-art wine glass collection. Praised in 1991 by Robert Parker, Jr, as "The finest glasses for both technical and hedonistic purposes are those made by Riedel. The effect of these glasses on fine wine is profound. I cannot emphasize enough what a difference they make."
Each glass is individually made: the upper parts blown into a mould, the stem and base hand-crafted using methods developed at the time of Christ's birth.
This glass can also be used with the following wines: Aligotè, Bardolino, Carignan, Charbono, Chenin Blanc, Chianti, Dolcetto, Freisa, Gros Manseng, Juracon Sec, Melon de Bourgogne, Montepulciano, Nero d'Avola, Petite Manseng, Pimitivo, Sangiovese, Teroldago, Vouvray, Zinfandel.
