Vina Nora
Rias Biaxas
|
|
The winery which is owned by Javier Alen, the well-respected Galician producer of Viña Mein (the best Ribeiro producer), and Victor Rodriguez, the director of Vino y Gastronomia (one of the most respected wine and food magazines in Spain), is located about 12 miles from the historic village of Tui. This village marks the borders of the sub regions O Rosal and Condado de Tea.
The philosophy of the winery is to allow the Albariño grape to achieve maximum expression of its maturity. Although Albariño is an Atlantic varietal, it loves the sun. The grape only reaches its maximum potential when it is harvested fully ripe. The winery decided to hire Andrew Anderson, a 34 year old winemaker from New Zealand, as he had no preconceived notions of what Albariño is or is not capable of achieving. The grapes for this wine come from 48 acres of 15 year old vineyardst hat surround the winery in the town of As Neves. You can actually see Portugal from the vineyards. |

Nora Albarino Rias Biaxas 2008
Characteristics: This wine continues top improve with every vintage. The 2008 shows extremely fresh and lively in the nose and mouth, with sweet pea, sweet tart citrus and ginger. Perfect with white fish, sushi or curry chicken. - wine tasting note by CM, January 2010
The wine draws your attention with aromas of ripe apples, honey and peaches. On the palate, Nora has an excellent balance of fresh fruit flavors and a rich silky texture. This is one of those wines that brings home the beauties of minerality, delicate yet discernable fruit and great acidity. Not only that, it doesn’t break the bank. What's not to like? -wine tasting note by JN, March 2010
