Foreau Brut Vouvray
Characteristics: This bottling has been here for a while. Like many things we buy, it doesn't sell as fast as it should, but it ages so beautifully we don't rush it out the door. Now its fragrance is so enchantingly rich with nugat and orchids. This aged bottling shows more of the Chenin varietal's soft middle with lemon custard finish; really lovely! - wine tasting note by LAC, April 27, 2010

Foreau Vouvray Demi-Sec 2005
Characteristics: A gorgeous wine. As much as I love the purity and race of Foreau's sec, it is the naturally sweet wines that showcase the potential of this great vineyard. The 2005 Demi-Sec is only evolving but these early stages are a flirtation that promises greatness. The fragrances are of sweet white flowers with nuances of wheat germ and apple butter. The mouth gushes with perfectly ripe pear mushed with wild honey. Do I like this? Yea!!!

Foreau Vouvray Moëlleux Reserve 2005
Characteristics: Honey and lemon with a touch of mushroom – something wild and garden fresh in the nose; palate shows honey and lemon but nothing cloying – quite fresh acid balance. Wow! –DYB

Pichot Vouvray 2008

Characteristics: So often honeyed, this is a refreshing alternative truly. With aromas of seashells, citrus and white peach blossom, this shows how low yields bring out the best of Vouvray which is beyond question the best of Touraine. Chenin Blanc as a variety can offer up myriad scents and tastes but Pichot shows its playful, sprightly side. With a clean, bright, polished peach and taut mouthwatering mineral on the palate, it is round in the mouth and charms you with an everlasting aroma of white peach on the polished finish. Is there anything Chenin Blanc can’t do? -Wine review by Nicholas Livingston, May 2009

Racauderie Vouvray 2005
Characteristics: If you ask for Domaine Racauderie in France, you will without doubt be served a glass of Sparkling Vouvray. The bubbles are what pay the bills over there at Racauderie and sparklers are what they are known for. We Americans have not developed the unquenchable thirst for fizz that our European counterparts have, and it’s an odd and fortunate twist of fate then, that the still wine is BETTER than the sparkler! If only they knew! Lucky us that we get this melon, apple, and (bruised?) Asian pear packed Vouvray with a nice, ripe, fullness of texture and some very cool lanolin and wool undertones -which will get the Chenin Blanc geeks out there salivating. -BH
