Baron de Seillac Brut Rose
Characteristics: Writing as I smack my extremely happy lips, I ask who wouldn't love more Provencal sparkling wine in their lives? This rose is a great follow through to Baron de Seillac's Blanc de Blancs' 1-2 punch proving Laurent Breban makes top notch sparkling wine. 100% Grenache lends a fresh, floral fragrance and a dry palate replete with white cherries, a faint mandarin acidity, and a fine mousse. At 11.5% alcohol, this wine is a dreamy option as a ready aperitif, a delightful bruncheon wine, or a terrific vin de soif! Buy it by the case and keep one in the ice box at all times. Baron de Seillac is a shining example that shows sparkling wine should be a daily affair -adding joy and panache to each and every day.

Barraud Macon Chaintre 2012
Characteristics: Barraud 2012 Les Pierres Polies, Mâcon Chaintré, Southern Burgundy
Made from 25 year old Chardonnay vines from an organically farmed 2.7 acre parcel of extremely stony soil of the 5th village of Pouilly Fuissé named Chaintré this is Mâcon Chardonnay at a far lower altitude than Vergisson –the renowned escarpment where the Barraud’s call home. Aged 2/3 in Foudres (new large wood) and 1/3 in stainless steel tank, this is always more than I bargain for from Mâcon. It’s polished texture is all the more burnished; its nose evermore fragrant and uplifting; its finish clean but beauteously aromatic –far more of Burgundy than merely expressive of simply Chardonnay.

Named for the polished stones that define this parcel of Chaintré, the Les Pierres Polies is a truly mineral Chardonnay from Mâcon in the southern most vineyards of Burgundy. With a nose expressive of peaches, blossoming apple orchards and all the fruit they’ll bear. This is exceptional southern white Burgundy more Pouilly Fuissé than any appellatively labeled Mâcon you could find but of course this is Barraud and this family not only lives their days among the vines of la Roche de Vergisson but their house rests in its very shadow of this famous limestone butte that rises like a cresting ship above Pouilly Fuissé facing the oncoming Roche de Solutré –dramatic landscapes bearing dramatic wines.

Barraud Pouilly Fuisse Les Crays 2010
Characteristics: This is a living example of how hand-tended, sustainably grown Chardonnay –free of any chemical applications- makes a living wine. Extraordinary Pouilly Fuissé is far more than extraordinary Chardonnay alone; this comes from vines whose taproots anchor to la Roche de Vergisson –the stunning limestone butte that reigns over the rest of Pouilly Fuissé. Mineral, waxy, textural, polished and even creamy, this is balanced by orchards of apples: fresh, poached and glazed.

Barraud Pouilly-Fuisse Alliance 2010
Characteristics: [14% alcohol]
Organic | A blend of various parcels of land: Terres du Perret, la Côte Carmentrant and Vignes Dessus with vines between 30 and 45 years of age, this is 100% Chardonnay and 100% Pouilly Fuissé -Pouilly Fuisse of the highest order rich in extract, fully scented and ripe with a remarkable density for its size and structure. Apples and pears, a lifted hazelnut aroma across the palate and a fine textural finish whose sea shell mineral and apples kin tannins close with firm handshake –this is seriously good.

Barraud Pouilly-Fuisse Alliance 2011
Characteristics: Barraud 2011 Alliance Pouilly Fuisse
A blend of various parcels of land:"Terres du Perret, la Côte Carmentrant et Vignes Dessus" with vines between 30 and 45 years of age, this is 100% Chardonnay and 100% Pouilly Fuisse. Creamy lemon peels and mellow apple notes greet the nose like a dear friend who picks up where you left off and all these charms and more carry over on the tongue; a sappy Burgundian texture like waxy apple peelings offer gentle citrus and orchard fruit but also a waxy vanilla bean, lightly poached apples, and a mineral punch unique to Alliance with a blossom on the finish that relaxes the finish into an immediately appealing taste of southern Burgundy.
