Colli di Castelfranci Fiano di Avellino Pedino 2007
Characteristics: Colli Di Castelfranci Fiano di Avellino 2007- It is generally wise to steer clear of southern Italian whites (and often reds too.) Campania is different though and what it lacks in latitude, it makes up for in altitude. At 600 meters above sea-level, the climate here is more like northern Italy and does miracles in the arena of preserving acidity. Quite assuredly the greatest of the Campania white wines, Fiano reaches its apex around the town of Avellino and consequently has a DOC designation. The Castello Di Castelfranci has great freshness and acidity with lime, peach, edgy pollen aromas intermixed with sappy, resinous Christmas-tree pungency. -BH

Rocca di Tufo Orvieto Classico 2008
Characteristics: Pretty brilliant golden color. Attractive nose of white flowers, pears and fresh peeled birch bark (legal of course). More intense than the 2007; almond butter and lemon zest flavors and crabapple tartness leaves a lasting pleasant sensation.

Schiopetto Blanc des Rosis 2008
Characteristics: An historic assemblage of Tocai Friulano, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Malvasia and Ribolla, Blanc des Rosis is the product of a need to represent, in one unique wine, the vine variety present in the area. The manual harvest and the soft pressing are followed by a brief period of aeration with no presence of sulfur dioxide. 95% of fermentation takes place in stainless steel and 5% of Malvasia is fermented in barrels. The wine remains on its lees for 8 months, and is always harmonious and balanced, and displays wonderfully complex aromas.
Pale yellow with greenish notes, the wine has intense aromas characterized by tropical fruits, and floral and spicy notes deriving from the complex blend. Rich and complex, with fruit driving the flavors, it has a balanced acidity and a long finish, developing minerality with age.
