Artisan Vineyard Notes
Characteristics: Smokey bacon fat, black olive tapenade and lavender opening up with a little chocolate as the wine develops. Drying, but with flavors of olive and berries. Restrained persistence. I look forward to tasting this over the years to come. -SL (tasted November '08)
These guys are so great! Old fashioned, traditional...the French version of the Norwegian bachelor. There's even a chicken coop in the backyard. The wine is dark purple, nearly impenetrable color. The bouquet has evolved some interesting things since last I tasted the wine. There are the deep spiced fruit aromas of Banyuls or even Late Bottled Vintage Port. Very intriguing and changing rapidly in the glass. My nose can barely keep up! Italian plum and cranberry in the mouth. I know these seem incongruous but I'm calling as I see it. -LAC, April 20, 2009
