Artisan Vineyard Notes
Characteristics: Good LORD! Since Petit Chablis can come from just about any of the lesser parcels of Chablis, we can usually expect a simple, inoffensive white wine or at worse a mean and thin white wine whose acidity verges on shrill and sharp.
Not the case here. Not only are the acids pleasantly ripe, this has a salient minerality, a more telling regional texture and a body that's balanced by a gunflint unique to Chablis. Completely charmed by this glass of wine -I'd be happy to drink this any day of the week. So much for "little," lesser Chablis; this is a bell ringer for the Petit Chablis of more diligent growers out there -certainly Louis Michel. I'd take back all that trash talk I've ever carried on about but a guy must be wary when navigating among Petit Chablis. Luois Michel is an exception to the rule, a touchstone for the rest.
