Characteristics: The saturated, deep gold color is your first clue that this is going to be very different from all of the Albarino that you may have tried before - this Albarino has been brought up in a new oak barrel. Is that a good idea?
I think it is fascinating: the edgy, exotic energy of the variety Albarino has been polished and almost tamed by it's time in oak, and yet the flavors are still fighting to a standstill - racy, juicy citrus versus a creamy lush texture. The aroma, too, is exotic - like pineapple carmelized under the broiler. Wild stuff! - PD
